I was surprised that they brought back the ESM mechanic from Ace Combat 6. The first mission was actually really fun. Both the briefings and the debriefings are stupid long by the way and mostly just serve as exposition dumps. He also likes to quiz people for some reason. Then there is this David North guy, an analyst of some kind for Osea who has someone keep calling him but hangs up on them (But somehow they still talk to him anyway), who is obsessed with Trigger (Who isn't?) and Torres as singularities, constantly ordering his A.I girlfriend to figure out what they are. This powerful submarine is also a carrier, is equipped with railguns, nukes (Insert Metal Gear Joke), and can launch both aircraft and drones, and the Oseans want it. To start off, you are told about this guy named Matias Torres, who was the captain of a powerful submarine that sunk somewhere and was stranded under the ocean for two years with 30 out of the 330 crewmen dying during the duration (*Cough* Cannibalism *Cough*). Not only do these SP Missions suffer from the same exact issues that the main campaign suffers from, they suffer them to an even worse degree. Against my better judgement, I decided to pick up the season pass too and get the other things along with it.Īfter playing the SP Campaign. Then I see that the AC7 season pass is on sale on PSN, and when the 3 DLC missions came out, I remember everyone was raving about them, some saying that it is better than the mainline campaign itself, with everyone making memes about this Matias Torres guy. it's an Ace Combat game, and I love Ace Combat.

#ACE COMBAT 3 MISSIONS SERIES#

It reminded me so much of another disappointing new entry to a once stagnant series that hadn't had a proper sequel in a long time *Cough* Final Fantasy XV *Cough* where the game came out in a state of poor quality but everyone was praising and defending it because they wanted the series to continue regardless, valid criticisms be damned and god forbid they actually be addressed.Īnyway, I was browsing my local GameStop recently and found AC7 on sale for about $20, and I decided to get it because. I told myself that AC7 is the worst mainline game in the series and (not) to my surprise, everyone was telling me otherwise and praising this game's dumbass plot and defending it from all forms of valid criticisms. with either unlikeable, unimportant, or poorly-written characters, most of which were all sucking Trigger's dick because he/she can actually shoot down shit unlike the rest of the Osean Airforce, and I felt like I accomplished nothing in the end because, as I said, most of the story was just filler (And even then, most of the missions themselves are filler to the actual story, which is also filler. But the one thing that greatly let me down was the story, it was mostly a filler plot about. I thought the gameplay was fine save for balancing issues and a few instances of complete bullshit moments (Like the 30-second tunnel thing in the last mission Aka we were fucking high when we designed this section of the mission). When Ace Combat 7 first released, I rented the game and found myself quite disappointed with it initially.
